Mitsuoki was a pupil of his father Mitsunori Tosa. Consequently, he used the Tosa painting style which combined elements of the Japanese Kanō style and Chinese painting styles. This gallery shows nineteen examples of Mitsuoki’s flower and (or) bird paintings. His favorite bird was the Japanese quail. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
